This sub division was came in existence in the year 1980 and thereafter reorganized the sub division lastly in the year 2002 vide GO(MS)105/2002/Home dated 06-07-2002. At present there are three circle offices and six police stations in this sub division. In addition to this a Coastal police station is also functioning in this sub division at Fortkochi.

Office of the Asst. Commisiioner of Police Mattancherry is functioning in the 1st floor of the newly constructed Janamaithri  Recourse centre building Mattancherry with effect from 18-04-2015. The total area of the office building is 207.07 Sq.Mtr and the office is functioning in 95.62 SQ MTR   Stations.
