The tourist police station, located in Mattancherry, is the first of its kind in the country which makes the God's own country more tourist friendly. The station offer various services and facilities to the foreign travelers like clarifying their doubts on passport and visa; registering complaints and grievances on lost passports and expired visa; hiring taxis; booking for boating, etc. From here, tourists can obtain  route maps and brochures of different tourist destinations in the State. Within the tourist police station premises, there is a Police museum that exhibits police uniforms, combat weapons and armory, arranged in chronological order right from the colonial period to the present day.


The tourist police wing extends police help to all tourist providing detailed information on hotels,lodges,distance between places, boat and taxi services bus routes etc. They operate at Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, Ernakulam junction and town Railway station.

The Tourism Police in Kochi City is presenting a good performance in their duty. Tourists who visit Kochi City are now happy as they get right information, guidance and security from the Tourism Police. They also help tourists from being cheated and misguided by the fake guides.

Tourism Police who were also trained from Tourism Department are identifiable to the public/tourists by their uniform and Metal Badge. They are actually a blessing to foreign and domestic tourists alike. The present strength of Tourism police in Kochi City is 1 Sub Inspector, 4 Head Constables and 20 Constables. They are deployed to Vasco da Gama Square, Kamala Kadav, Prince street, Fort Kochi beach, and St.Francis Church where Vasco De Gama’s body was originally buried. These places are under the jurisdiction of Fort Kochi Police Station. The Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, Jews Street, Mattanchery Boat Jetty, Marine Drive Ernakulam, Bolgatty Palace, KSRTC Bus stand and Ernakulam junction Railway station and North Railway Stations are the other places where Tourism Police are deployed in Kochi City
